WHAT IS PYROLYSIS?

One of the most promising available technologies to tackle challenges of climate change, waste remediation, pollution, and sustainable production.

Pyrolysis is a process of thermal decomposition, occurring in the absence of oxygen, which converts any organic (carbon-based) matter into valuable carbon-rich solids, liquids and gas.

Since no oxygen is present in the heating process, the organic material does not combust. Instead, the chemical compounds that make up the material decompose into recaptured resources that can be reused as sources of biofuels, biofertilizers, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing materials, and so much more.

POWERFUL PYROLYSIS PRODUCTS

1. BIO OILS

Derived from the combustible gases of the process, bio oil gets condensed into a liquid that can be refined using patented ceramic catalyst technology to produce renewable hydrocarbon biofuels, green diesel, industrial oils and lubricants.

2. BIOCHAR +

The solid material created in the pyrolysis process has the capacity to improve water and soil quality, increase fertility, and sequester carbon. The higher purity Activated Charcoal effectively removes toxins and impurities in water treatment. The purer Carbon Black provides the raw materials for countless commercial products and advanced materials.

  • The Activated Carbon we produce has greater surface area and higher absorptive character

3. SYNGAS +

The permanent gasses (CO2, CO, H2, light hydrocarbons) that remain after the pyrolysis process completes can be used in place of other fuel sources to create an independent power supply and to reduce energy costs. 

We can also convert the syngas particles to methanol for renewable energy, marine/auto fuel, and to power hydrogen fuel cells. Methanol is the building block for hundreds of important everyday products (including medicines), clean-burning fuel, and renewable power generation.      

EXTENDED PYROLYSIS BENEFITS

In addition to remediating waste streams, capturing carbon and converting it into valuable products as part of closed or circular economy, the pyrolysis process can be self-sustained.

Harnessing the combustion of the syngas and a portion of bio oil or biochar can provide all the necessary energy to drive the reaction. The heat generated from the process can further be used for waste drying, steam gasification and electricity. 

Carbon Credits, used to offset GHGs and incentivize emissions reductions, is another additional value-added benefit produced by our high-performance pyrolysis systems.
